Norms to Baptism at St. John Paul II Parish

Infant Baptism: Baptized and parish practicing parishioners may request the sacrament of baptism for their child through the Director of Religious Education.

Prior to Baptism:

Be a registered and participating member of the parish. If you are not a registered member and want to baptize at St. John Paul II Parish we will need permission from your parish priest. If you do not have a parish affiliation then you will be required to be a registered member of St. John Paul II Parish prior to baptizing.

Complete the following prior to Baptismal Preparation Sessions:

  • We need a copy of the birth certificate of the child to be baptized and $30. Baptismal registration fee: this does not include the priest’s stipend.
  • Proof of Sponsors Eligibility. Please note: In the selection of godparents, it is required that at least one of the godparents is Roman Catholic. When considering godparents, one should take into account: that the person has completed their Sacraments of Initiation of Baptism, First Eucharist and Confirmation and is practicing their faith in a parish community. The individual should be an example for your family, as one who will support your child in their faith development.

If the parents have attended verifiable pre-baptismal session in the last 3 years, direct arrangements with the Director of Religious Education can be made. However, Record of Baptism Form, as well as Sponsor’s eligibility form must be in order prior to the chosen date for Baptism.

After all efforts and forms are completed and returned to the Director Religious Education; your date of Baptism will be confirmed.

The Day of Baptism:

  • If you have a service following the Mass, please attend the Mass which precedes the ceremony or arrive at the conclusion of this Mass.
